A Message From Our Founder
I am a self-taught genealogist, an avid learner of genetic DNA testing methods, and a traditional searcher who has spent much of my time helping adoptees with their searches. I consider my adoptee friends not dissimilar to actual brothers and sisters, because we all come from similar backgrounds and experiences. Although no two search journeys are alike, there may be some similarities I faced that you, too, have faced.
I come from a technical background and work in Information Technology. It was not always my field of choice - I once spent much of my time restoring artwork and recasting picture frames damaged by years of neglect. On many levels, you could say I have always been attracted to broken things that needed fixing.
My latest interest has become my deepest devotion: helping others find their birth families. It has become my philanthropy. While this work has unique obstacles and outcomes that may not always end the way people hope, many searches lead those dedicated enough to stay the course to something life-changing - a profound truth about who they are and where they came from.
We make every effort to help you through the bulk of your search. There will be times when resources or circumstances limit what we can accomplish. But with guidance, encouragement, science, and proven search methodologies, we have helped thousands of people find what they were looking for.
What the search gives you - regardless of where it leads - is something you did not have before. A name. A face. A medical history. A sense of where certain features or tendencies come from. The knowledge that you tried, and that the answer is now yours.
That knowledge does not require a reunion to be meaningful. For many of our clients, it is enough to know.
What We Are
Search Angels is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded by volunteers who are personally touched by adoption and genetic discovery. Every person on our team - from our board to our researchers - brings firsthand experience to this work.
We are not a corporation. We are not a paid service pretending to be a community. We are genetic genealogists, traditional searchers, and people who understand what it means to search - because most of us have searched ourselves.
Our mission is simple: everyone deserves to know where they came from.
