Search Angels specializes in one thing: solving the mystery of unknown biological identity. Using genetic genealogy, our expert volunteers trace your DNA matches, build your biological family tree, and identify your birth parents or close biological relatives.
This is not traditional genealogy. We are not looking for ancestors from the 1800s. We are connecting the dots between your DNA results and the living - or recently living - people who are part of your biological story.
Who do we help?
We work with adoptees, late-discovery adoptees, donor-conceived individuals, and adoptee descendants who carry a gap in their biological history. We also work with people who have always known one parent but never knew the other. Two of the most common questions we receive are simply "Who are my biological parents?" and "Who is my father?" We can help you work toward an answer.
Not sure if your situation fits? Fill out our search form and let us decide. We'll tell you honestly if we can help.
The Search Process
Every case begins with your AncestryDNA results. From there, our expert volunteer genealogists get to work - analyzing your DNA matches, identifying genetic relationships, building out your biological family tree, and narrowing it down and confirming the most likely biological parent or relative.
The complexity of each search varies. Cases with strong DNA matches and straightforward family trees can move quickly. Cases with distant matches, foreign ancestry, or challenging DNA patterns take longer - sometimes significantly longer. We are honest about that from the start.
What never changes is our commitment. Your case stays open until we have found what the DNA can tell us.
Choosing Your Search
Basic - Free
Your case joins our volunteer queue. A researcher is assigned when one becomes available. Cases with strong DNA matches and U.S. ancestry typically move faster. Cases involving foreign ancestry or only distant cousin DNA match results may take considerably longer. There are no guarantees on timing at this level, but we take your search seriously and will keep working on it. If your ancestry is primarily non-U.S., or you are unsure whether we can assist with your situation, please contact us before submitting so we can provide an honest assessment.
All paid searches bypass the general waitlist, with a researcher assignment typically within one week.

How long does it take?
Every search is different, but our results speak for themselves. In 2025, 75% of our hundreds of solved cases were resolved within an average of 29 days after being assigned to a volunteer, with half of those solved within the first one to two weeks.
Cases involving foreign ancestry, complex DNA patterns, or only distant cousin matches naturally take longer. But the vast majority of our clients receive their answers far sooner than they expect.

OUR EFFORTS
We do our best to assist others with their genealogy efforts online. Much of our expertise lies in researching digital content at Ancestry.com, Familysearch.org, and other reliable online and offline resources.
We have extensive experience working with DNA results from AncestryDNA, 23andMe, FamilyTreeDNA, and MyHeritage, and are familiar with using Gedmatch.com.
We strongly encourage anyone delving into their familial past to take an autosomal DNA test. While documentation can help provide the foundation for researching your family, science has come a long way in substantiating facts from fiction. It can also help us leap over brick walls where documentation simply isn't available to prove your lineage.
